Default Save Yourself Time: Don't Deal With Woodmakesitgood

I wanted to let everyone know the headache that I have gone through today. This is just annoying.
I get an email from this guy and he trades for my jefferson 18. he trades me 200 widgets plus shipping and off we go.
This bottle arrives and then the guy waits at least two days (too lazy to actually look up when he received the package. But seeing that it is Sunday and Fed Ex ground only runs m-f we will call it two days) and now he wants to return the bottle as there is "crud" on the bottle and the seal has been tampered with. I sent him this bottle in perfect condition and by the looks of the photo he sent me, he either bled or had do do under his nails when he grabbed the bottle. Annoyed.
We will continue...
I offered my number so that he can call me and discuss. he never called.
He said he would pay for shipping but he would like to return it. Before I even can, he decides to file a complaint with Paypal. Annoyed.
I reply to the dispute and offer him the original cost of the bottle less shipping as he said he will pay that.
He denied the offer and now it is a claim. Annoyed
So now I just want this annoying prick gone. I accept the dispute and having him send me the bottle back.
I am happy to take the bottle back but just venting and let you all know that this fool isnt worth making a deal with. He needs a lesson in communications. A one minute phone call and things would have been resolved.
I love bourbon and I love this hobby. Trading and buying booze is a blast and sometimes things happen. sometimes bottles break. sometimes things arent what they seem and usually a little communication can go a long way. In this case, I sure it would have also. Instead, I spent 10x the amount of time being annoyed as I tell you all to avoid this guy.

That's nothing. Coincidentally I traded for a bottle of jps 18 too this week. I got it in and the cork and come out maybe a 1/4-1/2 of an inch during shipping. As a result a bit of the bourbon leaked on the faux tax stamp holding in the cork and it looked like it was opened upon arrival because the seal broke .

However after knowing that the jps bottles have weak corks, it was not a big deal and I went with it.

That is just idiotic based on what you have said and the pics you have provided.

Sorry to hear about your issues. I tried to contact him a few times with no reply...kinda glad now. Those JPS seals are touchy...I have one that is 1/2 broken (one side of the wrap) but the bottle was never opened. Hope it works out for you!

perhaps take photo's of the bottles before (and after packaging) so you can prove the state of the bottle before delivery!?

Not sure it would help but maybe useful in the future...thanks for the heads up!

If he's buying it to drink, I don't see the problem.
Is the liquid intact? If so, good to go.
You don't "trade" for the condition of the seal.
Rip it off and get on with your life and enjoy the new whisky.
Maybe offer him $5 back for the "damaged" seal.

Good words of wisdom from Etherman and Pappy, I'd suggest you post in the new Trade Feedback thread.

Make sure to read through Etherman's instructions there before posting though.
