Default Amrut Single Malt

Anyone heard of or tasted this:
http://www.amrutwhisky.co.uk/validated/pages/aismw.html

My fascist state of Idaho actually has some @ $55/750ml.

I had a glass a year and a half ago, but my only recollection of it was that I'd definitely like to try it again.

Excellent whisky. The 46% bottling could be better tbh when compared with their higher strength bottlings, but don't fear it, it's fine whisky. Made to the same guidelines as Scotch malt whisky, but this stuff is wilder.

The "Cask Strength" and the "Cask Strength Peated" are truly an experience if you can find them. The Amrut Fusion 50% is many folks' favourite. They have been quite innovative over recent years producing an array of limited editions.

Thanks Petesmoke. Sounds interesting. Do you have any idea of it's age? Their site says nothing on age.

It will be young. The whisky matures very quickly in Bangalore, and the angels are very greedy. Recently they bottled their oldest whisky, an 8yo, and suffered a loss of almost 80% from the two casks -- 274 litres lost and only 86 litres remained. They called it "Greedy Angels". Most of their spirit will be 4 or 5 years old.

Just to reiterate, Amrut is a 100% malted barley whisky. A proper single malt.

I have a bottle of the 'Fusion'. A specialist at the big liquor store I sometimes stop by was raving about this brand, and produced a leaflet saying it had been voted 'the third best whisky in the world' by the Whisky Bible at one point.
It's really good stuff, not unlike a decent old Islay Single Malt.

This technically isn't a Scotch Single Malt is it?
