Default Does Whiskey Age Well in Bottle? 20 yr old Dimple Pinch

I am pretty ignorant on Whisky and am hoping someone can educate me. I have a bottle of Dimple Pinch 15 year old blended whisky that I got from my Grandfather's house when he died in 1991. For some reason, I have been holding onto it for 20 years.

My question is, does Whisky age in the bottle, like wine, and get better? Or does it have a shelf life? And if so, what is the shelf life? Thanks for the help.

Whisk[e]y doesn't age in bottle and I always recommend drinking rather than storing but if it's been kept away from heat and sunlight it should be OK to drink. The only way is to open teh bottle and try it. One of the current threads [I can't find it] was about an old bottle of JW Swing, when it was tried it was superb. Have a dram

Smile Whiskey aging

I can't explain the science behind whiskey aging.. I can say though I have tried Wiser 18 year old whiskey, and a bottle of the same but sealed from 1970.

It's almost 66 years old. It does age but slower in a bottle, the taste of this whiskey is awesome!

It was worth opening.

I wonder sometimes about what actually happens with whisky in the bottle, and suspect that at least something must be happening, just not on the scale that it does with wines.

There's the likelihood as well that their processes may have changed somewhat, and then there's the difficulty of assuring that they actually would have tasted the same at time of bottling.

At any rate, I'm glad to hear of your great discovery, and keep enjoying it while it lasts.
