Question How Do I Identify This Whiskey Collection I Inherited?

Hello all. I'm new here but this looks like the place to be to get some impassioned and enlightened answers about this whiskey. So my uncle passed away this summer and amongst a basement that was overflowing with collectibles was his collection of Jack Daniels. My aunt wants me to sell them, but we don't know where to start. She says that they were all bought intentionally and specifically for their collectibility, but I don't see any dates on the bottles or anything to help with specific Google searches. Are there serial numbers on here that could help me to identify what year they are and where they came from? There are about 20-30 bottles that are sitting here staring at me. My uncle left some surprise debts to take care of so we are trying to get as much money from this basement as possible so my aunt doesn't fall behind on payments. Thanks ahead of time for your help!

I know just the right Jack Daniel's expert to help you out, but I need you to post clear photos first. If you need help, see: http://www.whisky.com/forum/showthre...781#post114781

The last single barrel picture in this set was signed by the distiller. I've included the picture.

I know that Brandy is included in this batch, but I'm pretty clueless there as well. Any ideas?

I should also mention that I have documentation for the gold medal bottle. If you would like any more pictures, let me know. Thanks!

Any luck? I realize it's not the most impressive collection. I get the impression that he just started a few years ago and intended to pass this on to his son. Unfortunately his son wants nothing to do with his dad's collections. Such is life.

We are mostly a whisky forum. Joanne may have to get someone from Jack Daniels to take a look.

First of all, the bottles you inherited are nice but not really wanted collectibles at the moment.
Of course, you can sell them but most of them are not rare (yet) so I would say keep them for years until they are wanted or drink them.
With the exception of a few which could make a little money.

Pic one
Green label glossy seal heritage bottles.
1,75 ltr USD 75,-
1,00 ltr USD 40,-
750 ml USD 30,-
375 ml USD 25,-

Pic two
Bottle one is the Scenes of Lyncburg 5 would go for approx. USD 100,-
Bottle two is a green label fake paper with tax stamp would or for approx. USD 125,-
Single barrel (pic 3 + 4 + 5) would go for approx. USD 50,- (maybe USD 75,- because its signed)

Pic three
Bottle one is Gentleman Jack (drink it)
Bottle two is Single barrel USD 50,-
Bottle three is 1981 Gold Medal USD 50,- / USD 75,-
Bottle four is Single barrel USD 50,-

Pic four
Bottles one and two are Single barrel new style (drink it) or sell for USD 50,-
Bottles three and four is the prohibition set. This set could go for USD 150,- / USD 175,- (will be a rare one in future)

Be aware that these prices are an indication. Just my opinion. Some bottle can do more, some less.

Good luck

Edwin

Thank you so much! I knew that he had just started the collection, so it had not been long enough to be truly collectible, but this helps me to know what I can do next. Thank you so much!
