Never had it, wasn't even aware they did a 18yo. I'm in the UK so this may be a US exclusive (I know Oban sells big over there....for some reason ).

In the UK we get a 14yo and a Distillery Edition (part of the classic malts "finished" versions).

Oban is so so for me, doesn't tickle my fancy or anything really. I guess with the extra aging it'll calm a few points and make it more docile, if that's your thing.

If you like the 14yo then you'll probably like the 18yo. I'd take a wild guess at a price of around 70 in the UK for something like this (if we had it) so that's around $120? So anywhere from $100 to $130 would be reasonable.

What price did you see it for?

the 18 was part of diageos special (limited) releases a few years ago (this year they released a 21). It was originally around 150 in the US but it has since dropped to more like 100.

Oban 18yr is yum. One of my fav's. Costs about $90-$140 USD. Depending on where you are.

Oban 18 is good but it is what I consider a safe whisky. Meaning I think it is a whisky that is meant for a broad audience and will never disappoint. However, it isn't unique and doesn't have a large flavor profile. Locally it goes for around $90. At that price, there are other whiskies that I would rather have...

I'm on my second bottle of Oban 18 and I like it very much. Sadly, I pay a bit more than $100 per bottle here in MA. I can't remember how much I paid, but I think it was more like $150ish. I'll check next time I'm at the store I got it from.

It has a bit more smoke, leather, dark chocolate and richer taste than the 14 (which I consider a decent dram, but not spectacularly complex).

Worth seeking out and I get a lot of positive feedback from friends when I force them to do taste tests with me
